      The Bobbsey Twins<\/em> was a series of children\u2019s novels running from 1904 through 1979.  It was about the adventures of the children in the Bobbsey family, which included two sets of twins: Nan and Bert, who were twelve years old, and Flossie and Freddie, who were six. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      This particular book was originally published in 1921.  The inscription limits the printing to no later than 1926.  At the back of the book is a listing of more Bobbsey Twins books  that are available.  The latest book referenced there is The Bobbsey Twins at Cloverbank<\/em>, which was first published in 1926.  So, this book was likely also printed in 1926.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The Bobbsey Twins books were written by a variety of authors under the pen name Laura Lee Hope.  The publisher, Grosset & Dunlap, also published many other well-known children\u2019s book series such as The Hardy Boys <\/em>and Nancy Drew<\/em> (all also published using pen names).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The Bobbsey Twins<\/em> stories started out as simple adventures around the home, but eventually progressed towards mysteries like the other series.  In the 1960s, the first 20 books in the series were re-written to reflect changing times and tastes (for example, replacing horses and buggies with automobiles).  This was one of those books that was re-written, but this is the original 1921 text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      When this book was printed in 1926, Calvin Coolidge was President of the United States.  F.
